Johnson & Wales Student Receives HSMAI Student Leadership Scholarship to Attend the 2016 Revenue Optimization Conference

Brian Goodman, CHIA; a hotel & lodging management senior at Johnson & Wales University’s Providence, Rhode Island campus has been awarded a HSMAI Student Leadership Scholarship to attend the HSMAI Revenue Optimization Conference (ROC) in New Orleans, June 22, 2016.

In addition to his major, Brian is completing a concentration in sales & marketing management and has special interest in revenue management. He will be interning in revenue analytics at Hilton Hotels Worldwide. Brian is a student leader in Johnson & Wales University’s chapters of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality and the Hospitality Leadership Association (AH&LA).

Thanks to the generous support of IHG, an HSMAI Foundation Platinum benefactor grant was established for the HSMAI Student Leadership Scholarship Program for 2016. This program recognizes HSMAI member student leaders and rewards them by providing scholarships in the form of registration and travel stipends for HSMAI signature educational events such as the Revenue Optimization Conference, and the HSMAI Mike Leven Leadership Conference.

Students will be introduced and recognized during each event as the “Student Leadership Scholarship Recipient.” The HSMAI Foundation will host the registration fee and up to $500 per student for travel and hotel expenses.  “It is a great opportunity for students to attend the ROC Conference. Industry experts have cited the need to develop talent in revenue management and conference attendance supports that need,” stated Professor Debbie Howarth, CHME, CHDM, CHE, Associate Professor in the Johnson & Wales University’s International Hotel School.

The 2016 HSMAI Revenue Optimization Conference
, prior to HITEC, is a unique one-day interactive program featuring thought leaders and subject-matter experts in various aspects of revenue management. Scholarship recipients will be asked to submit a program evaluation following the event, and to write a short article about their experience.
